Centre for Advanced Learning CFAL students top JEE Advanced examination 2017 in Mangalore

Shashanka Katta Topper in Mangalore Bavish K Second Topper, Adithya Upadhyaya Third Topper in Mangalore. All three toppers have studied +12 under NIOS.

16 CFAL students have ranks within top 6.2 % in the country in JEE – Adv 2017.

CFAL has the first, second and third rank in Mangalore in the prestigious entrance examination JEE Advanced 2017. Shashanka Katta is the first rank holder in Mangalore. Bhavish K is the second rank holder in Mangalore  and Adithya Upadhyaya is the third  rank holder in Mangalore. 

JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced are the two stages involved with the selection process of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). Out of around 12 lac students who appeared for JEE-main this year, 2,21,427 students were selected to write JEE-advanced 2017, among them 159,540 wrote the exam on May 21. Among them, 50,455 students have qualified in all categories. 25 students from cfal have qualified.

Performance in this examination forms the basis for admission into bachelors, integrated masters, and dual degree programmes (entry at 10+2 level) in the IITs and Indian School of Mines (ISM). A total of 10,957 seats are available to 23 IIT’s and ISM. Apart from IIT’s, the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research; Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Rae Bareli; Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy, Visakhapatnam; and the Indian Institute of space science and technology, Thiruvananthapuram, will also admit students based on their scores in the JEE (Advanced).

Details of the 16 students

Since its inception in 2009, Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL) has been bringing tremendous success to the Mangalore region. With over 95 of its students having been selected for IIT entrance exams from 2011 to 2017, CFAL has consistently had the highest student selection from Mangaluru.

FYI:  IITs earmark 14% special quota for girls from 2018. In order to address the decline of women candidates at the premier engineering institutions of the country, the Indian Institutes of Technology have decided to admit more women from the 2018 academic session. The decision was taken at the Joint Admission Board (JAB) of the IITs on Saturday. The board approved a quota of supernumerary (over and above the actual intake) seats for women in a phased manner, reaching up to 20% by 2026.
