Two students of Mangalore selected for “Kishore Vaigyani” Fellowship

Anirudh Raman,  a student of Std.XII at Lourdes Central School, Bejai has secured  the 113th   position  and  Sudhanva Kamath    a student of Std.XII at Kendriya Vidyalaya Panambur has secured the   357th   position  among the 566 students selected from the country under the SB+2 scheme.   These students will receive a scholarship of Rs. 64,000/-  per annum starting from April 2011 until their P.hd.   Summer programs for the KVPY Fellows are organized in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country. 

In KVPY 2009-10, Gautam Rao was selected from Mangalore for this prestigious fellowship and he has been receiving the scholarship since April 2010.  All these three students are undergoing the IIT-JEE/AIEEE Training at Manipal Career Excellence, Kuntikan, Mangalore.

 

KVPY is an ongoing program started in 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, to encourage students of Basic sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up Research Careers in these areas.  The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:  After scrutiny of application forms and based on the performance in the Board Examination of Std. X, more than 10,000 students from all over India will be called for a written test in the month of November every year.  Based on the performance in this written examination,  top students are called for interview. Selected students will be declared  as    “ KISHORE VAIGANI “ and they are eligible for this National Level Fellowship.
