CFAL Coaching Students Guidelines

Vision & Mission Statement

At CFAL, it is our prime responsibility to provide a safe learning environment to our students, teachers and other staff members. Our friendly, accessible atmosphere offers students a chance to optimize in their academics and develop socially. In order to achieve this, we have put in place a number of policies and guidelines which are updated from time to time to guide the function.


To initiate students to find strength, develop their personality and meet economic, social and environmental challenges. We continue to advance as a dynamic centre for life-long learning.


Foster a learning community and envisage that 80% of our students reach the top 10 colleges in the world or country and 20% reach the top 10 colleges in the state.


This document contains policies, expectations and a code of conduct for the students of CFAL. The institution reserves the right to amend, supplement, interpret or rescind any policies or portions of the handbook from time to time as it deems appropriate.

General Rules:

Treat other students with respect
Avoid offensive language
Be sensitive and respectful towards the beliefs and customs of others
Be honest in all matters
Be inclusive in social groups and language use
Maintain a secure, pleasant and peaceful environment
Avoid substance abuse
Inappropriate public displays of affection is prohibited
Abide by the rules of the college and law of the country

Disciplinary Policies:

No Bullying Policy

Bullying includes using abusive language, physical violence, teasing, sending threatening emails, social media messages, acts of coercion etc. Any form of harassment of a student, physical/mental is strictly prohibited. Students who are subjected or witness to any kind of bullying must report the incident to the coordinator immediately. Utmost attention and stringent action will be taken depending on the severity of the offence after thorough investigation as per the Karnataka State Board Law. Note: False Reporting shall call for disciplinary action

No Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking Policy

A strict policy is in place which prohibits the possession, use or distribution of any illicit drugs, sedatives, cigarettes and alcohol inside/around the campus. Note: False Reporting shall call for disciplinary action
Banned Items

- Pornographic material, expensive jewellery and accessories are banned in the college premises
- Personal music and entertainment systems shall not be used during college hours
- Audio/video recording devices and uploading of any such images/recordings of students or staff onto any internet site/portal is strictly barred
- If the banned items are found in the college premises, it shall be confiscated for a period of time or as determined by the Principal. The college in no way shall be responsible for loss of such items

Mobile Phone Usage Policy*

Students shall not use mobile phones during class hours
Before the commencement of class, students shall keep their phones in the designated lock
They shall collect the mobile phones after class
Should a student be found using a mobile phone during class hours, it shall be confiscated by the Coordinator for a period of time, to be determined by him
The college shall not be liable for loss of mobile phones

In the event of a student failing to comply with the above Mobile Phone Usage Policy, severe consequences, depending on the circumstances shall apply

Dress Code Policy

Students should be appropriately dressed in a manner befitting the prestige of the institution, while in the campus
Clothing and personal appearance should be neat, pleasant and appropriate
Attention must be given to personal cleanliness and good grooming including hair
Students should be dressed in Indian casuals
Not allowed:

- Clothes that are transparent (see-through), hoodie sweat shirts, fitted pants, pajamas, ripped jeans, tank tops, athletic attire, T-shirts with offensive words related to any religion/politics/profanity etc.
- For security purposes, students must be readily identifiable at all times with their faces uncovered. Students shall not wear anything that prevents ready identification such as full-face veils

The coordinator reserves the right to send back a student whose dress is unacceptable, irrespective of circumstances. The coordinator/principal shall decide on the appropriateness of the dress and his/her decision stands final.

Attendance Policy

Regular absence id strongly discouraged and parents are reminded, that such absences can have an adverse effect on a child’s academic performance.

Planned Leave: Students need to produce a leave note before taking planned leaves mentioning the duration and reason for any such leaves.
Sick Leave: Students need to produce a sick note from the parents (email or physical letter)

If a student is absent for more than 2 consecutive days and if the leave does not fall in the authorized leave category*, the failure to meet the attendance criteria for promotion shall be highlighted to the parents by February of the academic year by the Principal/Coordinator.

Return from absence: On return to college, it shall be the student’s responsibility to catch up on the missed work. Quizzes/tests shall not be reconducted. In case of absence during an exam, parents have to provide formal documentation and meet the Coordinator/Principal.

*Apart from planned & sick leaves, all other leave shall be considered unauthorised

Medical Disclosure Policy

Students/parents need to inform the College, if the student is suffering from any injury/illness/ medical/psychological condition or if under medication to help us with an emergency

Search and Seizure Policy

To maintain discipline, protect the safety and welfare of students, the college authority reserves the right to search a student, student use area, student locker or a student’s automobile and seize any illegal, unauthorized or contraband materials discovered in the search.

No tuitions & Notes policy

Students are strictly barred from taking tuitions from outside
Students shall not contact any Professor of CFAL for personal tuitions
Students are advised not to refer any guide/notes from outside other than the prescribed text books/reference books mentioned by the teachers
Each student shall maintain a separate note book for each subject. Scribbling on rough book, a piece of paper is not appreciated. Students are advised to follow the Cornell note taking method

Library Policy

Students shall produce their IDs to access the Library books
Students can take 2 books at a time from the Library
Students are allowed to keep the borrowed books for 2 weeks
Students cannot renew the same book

Examinations Rules

Students without ID cards shall not be allowed to write their exam
Any malpractice detected during an examination is liable to punishment at the discretion of the Principal
A student absent for unit test/term exams, shall have to pay a fine
A student cannot absent herself/himself from Mid-Term, Pre-Board and Annual examinations as it will be reported in the summary sent to the boards and will affect the promotion of the student

Communication Policy

At CFAL, our aim is to be proactive in strengthening positive partnership between the institution, its students and parents. Effective two-way communication is integral to this partnership. Parents will be regularly informed about the activities and development at CFAL through Schoology. Schoology shall provide students regular updates on grades, attendance, study material, holiday list, events etc.

From parents, the college seeks timely, honest and complete information about their child. Parents shall ensure that the contact information they have provided to the college remains accurate and updated. All communication between the college and parents will be respectful, professional and underpinned by considerations of appropriate privacy and confidentiality principles.

IT Policy

Laptops are strictly disallowed inside the Institution premises

Downloading, viewing, transmitting, exchanging or creating pornographic images, bullying, racist, xenophobic, hatred-inciting or politically sensitive material shall invite strict disciplinary measures, up to and including dismissal from the institution
Students shall not interfere with any type of hardware connections of the computer and the network. Any such activity will be treated as vandalism and may be reported to the Police
No student shall be allowed to engage in computer hacking or downloading of viruses. These are against the law and offenders shall face serious consequences, including dismissal from the institution

Direct Communication: Alternatively, students may visit the office between 10.00AM and 6:30PM, Monday to Saturday, to pose any urgent queries or concerns
Parents can contact the office (Phone Number: 9900520233, 0824 4279374) to set up an appointment with the coordinator if and when necessary. In case of an emergency, they can visit the office between 10:00AM and 6:30PM, Monday to Saturday.

General Code of conduct:

Students will be issued RFID cards in the first week of joining College
Student will use the ID card to access the turnstile, get books from the Library and as an ID for examinations
Late comers have to obtain a hall pass from the office to enter the class
Students shall not enter the classroom, late after the interval
Strict action will be taken against habitual late comers
Students having no classes shall not loiter in the corridor, but are expected to spend time working either in the classroom or library
Students should compulsorily wear the identity cards provided to them by the college inside the campus
Students shall not write/scratch on walls, desks or tables and damage the college property
Students should not take part in any agitation directed against the authority of the government or the college
Birthday/any celebration without due consultation from the coordinator/principal is strictly prohibited
Students are strictly prohibited from driving two wheelers and four wheelers
Work assigned by the lecturers should be completed and submitted before the due date without any delay
Maintaining cleanliness in the classroom is the responsibility of the students. Students are not allowed to eat in the classroom. They can use the café or dining hall
Dustbins are placed in the corridor to drop waste material
Window sills, corridors and classrooms should be free from chocolate wrappers, chewing gums, chalk pieces, empty food packets and other wastes
Window sills should be closed. Fans and lights should be switched off when not in use
Students should use the staircase only. Usage of lifts are not allowed, unless with prior permission
Wet umbrellas should not be taken inside the classroom, should be kept in a bucket placed in the corridor
If any grievance/concern, it must be brought to the notice of the Coordinator/Principal. Approaching management directly is not appreciated
No student is permitted to come to the Institute on Saturdays / holidays unless the teacher has asked for. In such cases, the student should have a written note from the teacher
Parents are earnestly requested to pick up their child/ward after classes. Please note, that the Institution is in no way responsible/liable for any activity/event that occurs after class hours

Fee Regulations:

The tuition fee for the year must be paid within the prescribed date. Every student shall be liable to pay the fees for the entire year if his/her name is on the rolls during any part of the year. Receipts should be collected for every payment of fee made.

If a student leaves college during a term, he/she shall have no right to claim a remission of any portion of the fee. Please refer to the refund policy for more information.

The College reserves the right to strike the name of a student off the roll or stop him/her from appearing for any examination including external examinations for non-payment of fees and other dues before the commencement of such examinations.

Payment of examinations fees does not entitle the candidate to appear for the examination. The candidate has to submit the application within the last date prescribed by the PU Board and fulfil the requirement of satisfactory attendance, progress and conduct. A candidate who does not satisfy these requirements will not be permitted to take the examinations

Consequences for non – compliance to Rules and Policies:

Possession of drug or any type of sedatives
Consumption of alcohol and/or smoking
Sexual, racial or religious harassment
Possession of pornography/obscene images

Any of the above actions may lead to immediate dismissal of the student from college. In the above case, parents shall be notified, an investigation shall be undertaken and records shall be maintained by the college. The decision on the consequences to be levied is at the sole discretion of the Principal/Coordinator.
