Students of Mangalore Selected in National Talent Search Examination NTSE (State Level) 2014-15
6 students trained at Centre For Advanced Learning (CFAL), Mangalore are among the only 9 students selected from the entire Dakshina Kannada District, in the first stage of National Talent Search Examination (NTSE 2014-15) .
The details of the selected students from CFAL are as follows:
Department of State Education, research & training (DSERT) conducts the first stage of NTSE. This year, a total of 67,918 students had appeared for the NTSE exam from Karnataka which was held on 2ndNovember 2014 and only 211 students(0.31%) including all categories have been selected among them. In Dakshina Kannada, 5160 students had appeared and 9 students (0.17%) have been selected. From the two centres in Mangalore (Mangalore City & Mangalore Taluk) a total of 1533 students had appeared and 8 (0.52%) students have been selected. www.dsert.kar.nic.in
The selected students have carved a name for themselves and to Mangalore in the statewide competitive examination. Six students among them were trained at CFAL.These successful students will now appear for the second stage of National talent search examination (NTSE) on 10thMay 2015.
NTSE is a flagship activity of NCERT in the direction of nation building for identifying and assisting around 1000 most talented students studying in X standard from all over India, year after year and nurturing them through generous scholarships and opportunities.These successful students are also called NTS SCHOLARS. They will be eligible for a scholarship starting from Rs.15,000/-per annum from the succeeding year till they finish their Ph.d. NTSE scheme covers areas like sciences, social sciences, engineering, medicine, management and law. www.ncert.nic.in
